About

Hello, I’m Dan McCullough.

McCullough Audio is a blog and video (coming soon!) project where I review in-ear monitors and various other audio equipment from an approachable point of view – where price isn’t an influence. In the end, it’s all about helping others find audio equipment that’s the best bang for the buck, not how many bucks you can spend.

I’ve been into audio gear for almost my entire life. It all started in the early 90’s when my dad brought home a stack of mid-range Denon gear, some Polk Audio speakers, and two CD’s of Beethoven and Mozart. Little did he know the impact that this would have on me! Previous to this, I had no idea that music and movies could actually sound rich, detailed and full! All I had heard before was from tinny stock car stereos or very low-end gear. Everything was different now – I had found a new obsession.

Since then, I have been into car audio, home theater, hi-fi systems, vintage home audio, and of course, headphones. While I’ve never had a professional job in audio, it has always been a passion and hobby – my room full of countless speakers and earphones can attest to that!

Outside of being an audiophile, I’m a specialty coffee shop manager, a former web designer, front-end developer, and graphic designer. I’m also a car enthusiast, iPhone photographer, coffee snob and enjoy cycling terribly long distances. Heights, rusty bike chains, cheap socks, bad recordings and dirty cars make me cringe. But for this site, let’s stick to audio.

Thanks for stopping by.
